REALTIME is on the lookout for a new Lead Motion Editor to join our expanding Animation team. 

With lots of exciting projects coming up following on from our successes on the likes of Jurassic Park Survivor and Dance Monsters, we are searching for the right talent to be a new member of our team who can work alongside our Animation Director to deliver across a broad range of projects within both Games and Episodic.

We are looking for a very talented Motion Editor who has a wealth of experience in managing motion capture data and supporting the development of motion capture workflows.

This role would be suited to a Senior or established Lead Motion Editor with good technical knowledge who is keen to be both hands on and lead a small team around best practice within Motion Capture.

Working at REALTIME, you will be expected to build relationships with the Senior team (Animation Director, Art Director, Character TD) and you will report directly to the Animation Director.

This position is open for working either in our studios (Manchester, Westby) or for remote work from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work alongside other leads and the Animation Director to support collaboration across our animation team for data quality, consistency, and improvements of pipelines.

• Process motion capture data through our inhouse pipeline.

• Engage with scene assembly making sure to edit and improve the contact points between characters, props, and environments.

• Transfer and retarget motion capture data to both characters and creatures (biped/quadruped)

• Pay close attention to edits, in order to bring together the right bodies faces and cameras within a scene according to timecode

• Assist in the creation of tools and scripts to develop and improve our workflow.

• Share and advance knowledge with Internal teams.

• Organise and file all data according to the project requirements.

SKILLS SUMMARY:

• Hands-on experience using Motion Builder at a Senior/Lead level.

• Strong knowledge of the animation principles and be able to convey them

• An expert in motion capture workflows

• Ability to work under tight deadlines

• Driven to provide the highest quality of work

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years motion edit experience with at least the delivery of one AAA Games IP, High-End TV/Feature Film or a Virtual Production project.

• Have experience of leading motion editing/animation teams.

• Have an understanding of working with game engines would be beneficial

• Experience in Maya would be a benefit but is not essential

• Experience of rigging or having generalist 3d skills or any scripting experience would be a plus
