BUCK

The 3D department is a team of highly creative and technical artists working in a collaborative environment. 

We value the importance of in-person collaboration as a cornerstone of building positive culture, fostering growth, and driving success for individuals, the department, and BUCK as a whole.

In 2025, the guidance for in-office work is 1–3 days per week, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in seeking out and interviewing new talent.
  • Train and nurture team members, promoting their growth and development, and positive attitude.
  • Lead 3D projects to completion:
  • Actively engage in project planning , scheduling freelancers and occasional bidding
  • Manage artists and delegate work effectively.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors to understand the project's vision and develop solutions to execute it successfully.
  • Distill creative and client feedback to artists, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Provide constructive feedback to artists, fostering their skills and creativity.
  • Identify technical problems and take responsibility for finding appropriate solutions.
  • Report progress to the 3D supervisor
  • Participate in client calls to support producers and creative leads
  • Collaborate with the rest of the 3D Team to produce high-quality assets, animation and/or renders.
  • Partner with Designers and Creative Directors to create styleframes and designs for projects and  pitches.
  • Investigate new workflows, tools, and efficiencies within the department.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with your team’s work.
  • Continuously update your skill set and learn new tools to meet the evolving needs of the department, clients, and market.
  • Share knowledge and insights with the department and the wider BUCK team, promoting the department’s culture of collaboration and growth.
  • Proactively offer assistance and support to the department and your peers, actively seeking opportunities to contribute.

Requirements:

  • 6+ Years of experience working in an industry relevant to the skillset.
  • 1+ Years of experience leading small or medium projects,  demonstrating strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Expert-Level proficiency in at least 2 of the following areas:
  • Character Modeling and/or Hard Surface Modeling
  • Look-development and Texturing
  • Scene assembly and Lighting
  • 3D Compositing (Nuke)
  • VFX Compositing (Nuke)
  • Technical and Mograph Animation
  • FX/Simulation
  • 3D Design
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and discipline.
  • Ability to track your own work as well as other people's work, maintaining clear oversight of projects.
  • Effective delegation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to engage in self-directed learning, staying current with industry trends and techniques.
  • Ability to understand and distill client and creative feedback.
  • Experience nurturing other artists and providing constructive feedback, contributing to their professional development.
  • Proven track record of problem-solving technical challenges, finding innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new tools and techniques to stay current with industry trends and project demands.
  • Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and collaborating with team members to cultivate a supportive and innovative work environment.

Software Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following 3D packages: Maya, Houdini, Cinema 4D
  • Good working knowledge of Nuke.
  • Familiarity with relevant render engines: V-Ray, Redshift
  • Additional software knowledge (beneficial but not required): ZBrush, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Python Scripting
  • Relevant pioneering tech and software (ie. AI image/video/asset generation)

Compensation:

Salary Band: $140-190k annually
