About the role
The Motion Designer is responsible for day-to-day video animation of high-impact content, including social media, product demos, YouTube videos, live action, and motion toolkit templates, with occasional video editing work.
This role will complete complex projects from start to finish while excelling at visual storytelling.
You'll need to juggle deadlines, stay organized, have a keen eye for detail, and switch between different creative tasks.
Zillow is a collaborative place, so you’ll need excellent communication skills, a real desire to work with others, and the ability to take creative feedback in stride.
Whether working on your own or with Video Editors, Producers, and a large team of Creatives, self-guidedness, motivation and resourcefulness will be critical.
Ideal candidates for the role will have experience with fast-paced assignments at agencies and/or in-house brands, and be familiar with remote post-production workflows.
Core Responsibilities:
• Concept and implement high-quality 2D animations across a range of video types, including product demos, live action, educational content, and social media.
• Partner with Creatives and Producers to help establish Studio Z’s motion design vision and processes, and adhere to brand identity guidelines.
• Collaborate with Creatives, Designers, Producers and Project Managers on all projects to elevate and expand video content quality.
• Enhance all projects, incorporating photo, video, animation, sound design & music.
• Continuously expand technical knowledge on edit and motion techniques, and stay current on the latest design trends, motion styles, tools, and technology.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and teach others around you.
• Collaborate with Executive Producer and Project Managers to realistically establish post-production schedules.
• Grow awareness of Zillow and its lines of business through memorable and compelling content.
Who you are
• 5+ years working experience as a Motion Designer with some background in video editing.
• Understanding of design principles, with a desire to elevate all content created.
• An appetite for social and digital content and how we make Zillow show up as an industry leader.
• Ability to communicate ideas effectively.
• Adept at prioritizing work and balancing multiple projects at once.
• Understanding of design principles, with a desire to elevate all content.
• Strong attention to detail and experience working under tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated and positive, collaborative. Enjoys production and accountable for their work and the larger team.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma workflows in a remote post-production environment.
• Bonus: Knowledge around mogrts, After Effects scripts, plugins, AI tools, illustration, animation, and 3D.
• Building out motion toolkits and templates for other animators, video editors, and teams.
• Value feedback as a critical means for personal and professional growth.
• Have an online portfolio that shows off a range of design styles, diversity of project types and your outstanding animation, storytelling, and design skills.
• Real estate knowledge and a love to tell stories of home a plus.

U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $88,200.00 - $140,800.00 Annually.
This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
