The Brand Studio team lays the design foundations that help Stripe accelerate. We do this by creating, evolving, and maintaining Stripe’s high-quality, versatile, and forward-looking visual identity design system. We sweat the details. We make it seem effortless.

What you’ll do

3D illustrator/animators at Stripe demonstrate passion for great design and for expanding, evolving, defining, and documenting flexible illustration systems that achieve bar-raising quality and consistency for the brand at scale. 

The ideal candidate excels at delivering on brand 3D illustration from conception, to 3D modeling, and all the way to motion. 

They have a deep understanding of visual storytelling, iterates quickly, and collaborates seamlessly with marketers, product managers, leaders, other designers, and agency partners.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the Link and Stripe brands to develop, establish and create illustration and motion styles in close partnership with Brand Design, Product Design, Marketing and Communications
  • Champion and influence how the Stripe and Link brands expresses itself through image and motion and develop guidelines, systems, and processes to ensure quality and consistency at scale
  • Work collaboratively with non-motion designers, elevating and informing each others’ work.
  • Oversee quality and consistency of 3D illustration/motion and how it is used to express our brand—from product, to advertising campaigns and events.
  • Oversee the work of external teams in creative strategy, execution, and production
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, marketers, and other cross-functional partners to serve a global audience.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • Have 6+ years of relevant design and art direction experience for technical and product-driven companies
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art, or equivalent professional experience
  • Have a strong strategic acumen for building leading brands in a fast paced, global facing environment
  • Are a systems-thinker and excel at extrapolating and extending shared patterns and behaviors
  • Proven excellence in effective art direction, and building and extending 3D illustration systems
  • Have the ability to express and communicate a brand through distinct graphics, patterns, motion, interaction, and video (short form and long form)
  • Can effectively communicate concepts, direction and decisions with the team and with external partners
  • Strong track record independently delivering work as well as collaborating with and influencing the work of other designers, contractors, and agencies
  • Have a working knowledge of editing and how motion is integrated into live-action, and some familiarity with editing software.

  • Find a meaningful balance between optimizing for speed, quality, and doing risky, interesting, pixel-perfect work
  • Are persuasive and humble in explaining your work, process, and decisions and crave feedback to help you design at your best
  • Love working with other designers to help them learn and grow—and have them help you learn and grow

Working remotely at Stripe

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is £90,400 - £135,600.

This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
