
MAKE is seeking an experienced Motion Designer to join the team in Minneapolis, MN.
Motion Designers at MAKE bring strong design and animation skills to a wide range of commercial and original content. Candidates should be fluent in 2D animation and motion design, with bonus points for 3D experience.
You’ll work closely with producers, creative directors, and fellow artists to craft high-quality visuals that push ideas forward.
A keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential.
Responsibilities:
• Design and animate motion graphics across a variety of styles and formats.
• Collaborate with producers and directors to help define the creative approach for each project.
• Contribute to the development of design boards, style frames, and motion tests.
• Interpret creative briefs and storyboards to bring concepts to life through motion.
• Balance creative exploration with efficiency, knowing when to polish and when to pivot.
• Manage your own timelines, communicate blockers early, and stay accountable to deadlines.
• Stay up to date on current motion trends, tools, and techniques.
• Jump into both solo and collaborative builds with equal enthusiasm.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in motion design or animation.
• Proven skills in After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and related design tools.
• Experience with 2D character animation, cel animation, or compositing is a plus.
• Experience with 3D tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.) is a bonus, not a requirement.
• Strong design fundamentals—composition, typography, timing, and movement.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
• Excellent communication skills—able to articulate your process and give/receive feedback.
• A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-moving studio environment.
• Curious, adaptable, and always looking to level up your craft.
• Comfortable working across a range of visual styles—from clean and graphic to stylized and expressive.
